Scoping out the sign-making market at FESPA 2017

Ranging from printed posters and billboards, through to way-finding signs and even digital signage, the sign-making market is incredibly varied.

While this may be good news in terms of the amount of work on offer, it can make things a little tricky for companies seeking solutions for different types of applications.

Visitors to FESPA 2017, as well as the co-located European Sign Expo (ESE), will be able to find products, materials and solutions for all areas of the sign-making market.

Running from May 8-12 in Hamburg, Germany, the show will feature a wide range of manufacturers and suppliers from across the wider market, with a good number of those able to offer support to visitors involved with sign-making work.

Based on Stand A60 in Hall B7 of the main FESPA 2017 show, Innotech Digital and Display will be on hand to discuss its various sign-making solutions with visitors. The company offers a range of portable display systems, point-of-sale options and signage products, in addition to digital print media, digital inks, tapes and sign-related accessories.

Also in Hall B7, Protek will be in attendance on Stand D50 to educate visitors about its portfolio of cutting and milling solutions. Such machinery is commonplace in the production room of many sign-making companies, and Protek will be hoping to generate more interest in the various technologies.

Solutions on offer include the F3A Concept, the flagship device from Protek and the first machine envisioned by its founder.

Featuring automatic tool change, with rotating type from 16 to 32 positions, the Concept is able to handle a host of materials, such as aluminium, copper, brass, reinforced plastic materials and composite materials such as carbon and Kevlar.

Meanwhile, over on Stand C12 in Hall B2 of ESE, EKFA LED Frames will be on hand to discuss its various framing solutions with visitors. The company is able to provide textile frames, LED frames, panel frame and curved frames – all of which are suitable for us in sign-making projects.

Visitors to this year’s event will also have access to a series of in-depth seminars that will focus on various areas of the wider market, including sign-making.

Among them is ‘European Sign Code of Practice’, which will begin at 11am on May 10, and will look at sign-making regulation and standards in Europe. Luc Steegmans ‎owner at ELBO Signs And Technology, and the European Sign Federation will outline regulations and address any changes in law.

While many exhibitors at FESPA 2017 will feature print technology, much of which can actuallt be used in sign-making work, a good number will focus on the technologies behind signage.

In particular, ESE will play host to a wide range of companies, each of which will showcase the latest developments in sign-making.

Leading names from the European sign industry will show the latest developments in equipment, software, signage materials and systems, fittings and fixtures, channel lettering, illuminated signage, dimensional signage, engraving and etching at the event.

Signmakers and signage buyers will also be able to discover the future of the industry through the show's ‘Ask the Experts’ feature, a networking event where visitors and exhibitors can attend daily panel discussions and debate a range of topics focused around digital signage.
