Widen your print horizons at FESPA 2017
Wide-format print has been regarded as one of the key growth sectors in the global industry for some time now.
Although perhaps traditionally perceived as an area for sign-making companies, an increasing amount of conventional print service providers (PSPs) have opted to expand into this market to access new work.
While this has made the sector much more competitive, it has also led to a jump in the level of innovation, as companies look to stand out from the competition and win new work.
FESPA 2017 will give PSPs and sign-makers in this sector the opportunity to see some of the latest solutions on offer and find out more about how this technology can help them gain an advantage in the busy wide-format print market.
Taking place from May 8-12 in the German city of Hamburg, FESPA 2017, as well as the co-located European Sign Expo and Printeriors, will feature some of the biggest brands from across the global print industry.
One of the leading manufacturers associated with wide-format printing is Canon, and the company will be based on Stand B55 in Hall A1 during FESPA 2017 in May.
Visitors the Canon booth will be able to learn about the UVgel technology, which it said enables high-speed, large-format printing without the need to compromise on quality. The firm will use this year’s show as a platform for the European debut of its new Océ Colorado 1640, Canon’s new 64-inch roll-to-roll printer, which is based on UVgel technology.
Speaking about UVgel, Mark Lawn, director, graphic and communications group at Canon Europe, said: “We expect Canon UVgel technology to be a positive force for further evolution in the digital wide format sector, delivering a significant leap forward in productivity and applications capability in a market which has seen only incremental developments in recent years as prevailing technologies have matured.”
Elsewhere in Hall A1, Epson on Stand D45 will be showing off various models from its popular SureColor range. Machines on display at the show will include the SC-S80600, a 10-colour, 64” device that features an UltraChrome GS3 inkset, including red, white and metallic for accurate corporate colour matching and high print quality.
HP also intends to take advantage of interest in the show by displaying kit such as the HP PageWide XL 8000, which can not only run at speeds of up to 30 A1 prints per minute, but also handle media as wide as 40 inches. Visitors to the HP stand will see how the machine can be linked to a Fotoba Cutter. HP will be on Stand D15 in Hall A1
In addition, Roland DG will use its presence in Stand E20 in Hall B7 to further enhance its reputation as a leading provider of wide-format print solutions. The manufacturer offers the TrueVIS Series and TrueVIS SG Series printer / cutters ranges, as well as the Versa UV LEF-12i Flatbed Printer.

A host of other manufacturers and suppliers from the wide-format print sector will also be in attendance, and visitors are advised to study the floorplan before the exhibition to find out exactly who will be in Hamburg and how they might be able to help them improve their wide-format business.
