Sign Express brings in Latex after new opening
Sign Express has invested in a new 1.62m HP Latex 360 printer to expand its services and increase productivity in its new production center in Watford.
The Glasgow-based company, which specialises in designing and manufacturing its own range of graphics and signage, bought the machine for being installed in its new centre in Watford, UK, with new franchisee David Halliday at the helm.
The centre, based in the Empire Centre, has its own design studio plus other print and finishing systems to handle signage, displays, vehicle graphics and banners among others.
The latest machine, which was supplied by City and West End Solutions (CWE) and installed last week, offers numerous advantages to the team's operation, namely the fact that this 64 inch printer is the fastest in the 300 series and is also highly robust, reliable and versatile.
It can print at up to 91sqm/hr in single-pass mode and features an eight-inch touchscreen, double-sided printing and automatic ICC profiling that enables to synchronise colour consistency between printers for fleet management and printing on textiles or other porous substrates.
Addtionally, the HP Latex 360 can be used for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications with all of the environmental and operational benefits that accompany the use of water-based inks.
The printer will help Sign Express to expand its services further into window and floor graphics, and meet the needs of any client that comes to its doors.
"We can respond more quickly to customer requests and increase workflow with two printers in situ. The latex printer has the added benefit of requiring no outgassing, so the vinyl can be used immediately after printing, unlike solvent machines," said Sign Express owner Graham Casey.
The firm, which celebrates its 20th birthday this year, also looked at other options in the market, but found that the HP Latex 360 was a better fit for its requirements.
Signs Express provides a comprehensive range of signs, graphics and services to areas in and around Glasgow, such as East Kilbride, Motherwell, Paisley, Clydebank and Dumbarton.
It operates from an extensive production centre that was established in May 1995. The addition of the new printer to this custom-built unit will make the Glasgow centre the first in the nationwide network with the third generation Latex printer installed.
