McGowans cements partnership with Durst with latest two-system investment

Leatherhead based company Durst is the manufacturer of advanced digital production technologies. Durst has recently supplied two additional systems in a €850,000 agreement with long-term customer McGowans as part of a plan to expand their presence further into Britain and abroad.
Mal McGowan, the Founder and Managing Director of McGowans states that the the investments in Durst Rho 512R which was launched at FESPA in May 2017 and a Durst Rho P10 160 are additional instances of Durst constantly being “weapons of choice” in both roll-to-roll and flatbed technologies.
“We have a long history with Durst and the relationship between us is perfect. As our customers require even higher quality and speedier turnarounds for shorter production runs the necessity for digital escalates more and more. Both the reliability and quality of Durst systems is exceptional and the machines are practically maintenance free” says Mal.
The Durst P10 160 hybrid six-colour with white machine has been placed at McGowan’s site in Belfast where the turnover has been increasingly growing at 25% a year. McGowans also placed a Durst Rho 512 Plus 5 meter wide 12 picolitre UV dual and triple roll printers at the Dublin headquarters. McGowans currently employs 130 staff and these investments further opens new markets for polyethylene, mesh and fabric UV printing.
Mal continues to say that “the quality has been absolutely spectacular. I would not expect anything less, our Durst machines are excellent quality which takes us to yet another level. Our customers will definitely notice that the change and the investment will certainly expose new opportunities for our business. Durst delivers the the most consistent digital technology that we have ever bought including both small or large format.”
The new investment brings McGowan’s Durst complement to 5 machines. Others include a Durst Rho 1330 fully automated machine, a Durst Rho 1312 three-quarter machine and a Durst Rho P10 3.2m roll-to-roll with white machine.
Mal states that “we looked at using other manufactures, but there was no comparison. Our Belfast site is very tactically significant for us in regards to Brexit because it provides us with manufacturing capabilities in Britain and Dublin. We have these investments in 2 more Dursts due to the fact that the business is growing exponentially. Our customers have the highest of expectations when it comes to quality, speed and cost and we are always determined to improve our machinery offering and all-round service. The opportunities are infinite with these investments with Durst – and we will continue to ensure we continuously deliver on time with the highest standards for our clients.”
The Managing Director of Durst UK and Ireland Peter Bray said “McGowans is a long-term partner and we are thrilled that it has accomplished another “first” in Ireland with Durst as it continues to expand its operations at its headquarters and elsewhere. With particularly tight deadlines, companies like McGowans constantly rely on Durst technology to deliver state-of-the-art, consistent, high volume and exceptionally high quality products that we are delighted and proud to be supplying”.
