Inca Digital celebrates another successful show at FESPA
Inca Digital experienced another hugely successfully FESPA show this year and exhibited a full portfolio of digital inkjet machines across their two stands with one featured in the Digital Corrugated Experience.
SpyderX Sold Off The Stand
The SpyderX received a lot of attention particularly from Norwegian printer Oslo Silketrykk AS who offers wide-format and POS products and purchased the SpyderX machine at Inca’s stand. John Mills, CEO at Inca Digital commented: “we are delighted that we sold our SpyderX machine at the stand at FESPA. It’s a fantastic reflection of how impressive the performance of the machine is during full production mode and supports the notion that people are keen to make purchases at FESPA”.

The SpyderX is a leading mid-range platform that provides true flatbed printing that features all the benefits of a hybrid with an optional R2R system. The Spyder X can serve as a complimentary production workhorse alongside the Onset X series for smaller runs and more bespoke work or for businesses that require the benefits of a high-end inkjet platform in a mid-range machine. The SpyderX will be shipped to Oslo Silketrykk AS with the installation completed over the coming weeks.
The Fastest Wide Format Digital Printer
Before FESPA 2018, Inca announced their plan to preview their fastest ever wide-format digital printer which is currently in development. The single-pass machine can print at up to 300 linear metres every 2 minutes at 2.8m wide. A 50 metre sample was displayed at FESPA 2018 which showed visitors the quality the machine can produce at full speed.
The 2.8m wide version will be integrated into a corrugated machine that is being developed with BHS Corrugated which is one of the world’s largest providers of solutions targeted at the corrugated industry.
John Mills commented that: “This machine will be ready for launch in a few years and we are already talking to customers to determine what functionality they require from a machine with this level of production capacity. With this kind of speed, there comes a step-change in capacity for several printers, therefore we are working to ensure a business plan is in place that supports this capacity and a real value proposition for this platform.”
John Mills outlined some of the technology behind this new platform during various keynote presentations in the Digital Corrugated Experience titled ‘A New Horizon In Single Pass Printing’. These keynote presentations showcased Inca’s roadmap for single-pass technology that included an overview of a new single-pass machine, the SpeedSet. The SpeedSet will be able to be used for both single-pass and multiple-pass printing which gives printers the versatility to balance speed with quality and to deliver a wide variety of jobs.
Onset X and the Digital Corrugated Experience
The Digital Corrugated Experience at FESPA was a newly introduced feature that showcased the potential of digital print for corrugated packaging and display applications with the goal of educating converters and box-makers about integrating digital technology into their production mix. The Onset X took featured an automatic robotic unloading system that caught the attention of visitors and other exhibitors.

The Onset X can load and unload media up to 3.22m x 1.6m with a thickness of up to 50mm. Automation makes the Onset X a powerful tool for the corrugated market. Bjoern Schueler, Head of Sales and Marketing says “over 90% of our Onset machines are shipping with some form of automation. Automation guarantees maximum productivity, is cost efficient and has a strong effect on daily output. It is a fantastic option to offer our customers to ensure that they take full advantage of the speeds the Onset X range can reach.”
The Commercial Launch of Onset M
During FESPA 2018, Inca did a commercial launch of the Onset M which was initially previewed at FESPA 2017. This year the Onset M entered the market, it has been specifically developed to provide a high quality, short-run B1 solution for the offset, industrial and screen printing markets. Similar to the Onset X, the Onset M is available with full automation in the form of a feeder and stacker and modular lay table.”

John Mills says: “there has been a substantial amount of interest in the new B1 Onset M. Offset and digital printers are eager to learn more about this machine’s key features and benefits and where it fits into the marketplace.” The Onset M printer has been designed to serve four key markets that includes short run, small-format, carton and board and printing on metals such as cans. This versatility makes the Onset M an attractive offer for printers seeking to grow their product offerings.
John Mills concludes: “our portfolio really spoke for itself at FESPA this year. It was very exciting to demonstrate our full portfolio of machines and the conversations we shared with customers regarding our range were very positive. Exhibiting at FESPA is always an amazing opportunity to gain feedback from customers which helps drive our R&D programme and moulds our product roadmap. I would like to thank the partners and distributors who joined us on our stand and everyone who visited our stands for such a successful show.”
