3M races ahead with Supercars Championship
The 3M ANZ division of 3M has entered into a new partnership with Australian motor-racing series the Supercars Championship.
3M, known across both the print and sign markets for its wide range of materials and solutions, will serve as an official innovation partner of Supercars for the 2017 season.
The firm has been associated with the series for a number of years, supplying various Supercars teams with products and also acting as an official partner for the Stone Brothers Racing and Erebus Motorsport teams.
David Duguid, chief marketing officer at 3M ANZ, said: “Bringing the science of racing together is the perfect match for Supercars and 3M’s five major business group.
“In particular, our automotive, industrial, safety and graphics businesses where we innovate and work tirelessly with Australia and New Zealand’s leading industry bodies and customers to bring the most innovative science based technologies to life.”
To mark the new partnership, 3M will work with world-famous automotive artist Chip Foose on a special initiative that will allow Supercars fans to learn about the art of vehicle decoration.
Foose, known around the world for his reality television program Overhaulin’, as well as for his work on the Disney Pixar series of ‘Cars’ films, will travel to this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 to meet fans and illustrate his renderings of custom cars.
Fans can enter a competition to win a special VIP experience at Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the chance to meet Foose, offering them further insight into the world of automotive artistry.
James Warburton, chief executive of Supercars, said: “3M is an international brand, recognised in over 200 countries. For 3M to partner with us and bring Chip Foose, one of the world’s most well-known automotive artists and restoration experts to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, it’s great news for fans.
“For many years, Chip had an association with the late Peter Brock, so he is well aware of the importance of this race and is looking forward to attending our iconic event.”
Vehicle decoration is regarded as one of the most creative and innovative sectors of the industry, with bespoke projects in this market allowing both designers and wrappers to push the boundaries of this type of work. The FESPA World Wrap Masters competition offers wrappers a global platform to showcase their work and win recognition from their peers.
The next event on the FESPA World Wrap Masters calendar will take place at the FESPA Mexico show, which runs from September 21-23 at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City.
Now in its 10th edition, the event has become the largest dedicated exhibition for the wide-format digital printing, screen printing, signage and garment decoration industries in Mexico and Central America.
