OKI bolsters textile print portfolio with new Pro9541WT

OKI Europe has rolled out its new Pro9541WT five-colour digital toner transfer media printer with the aim of helping commercial print businesses expand their print capabilities and win work in new markets.

OKI Europe has rolled out its new Pro9541WT five-colour digital toner transfer media printer with the aim of helping commercial print businesses expand their print capabilities and win work in new markets.
Designed for the screen and textile printing industry, the new machine has a top CMYK plus white printing speed of 18ppm for letter transfers and 12ppm for A3 transfers. The device boasts 13-inch x 19-inch A3 plus print capability and can produce print at a resolution of up to 1200 x 1200dpi.
Other attributes of the Pro9541WT include a time to first page of around eight seconds, as well as a duty cycle of 300,000 pages and 2GB RAM memory.
Speaking to FESPA.com about the new model, Christophe van Gelder, general manager for specialty print at OKI Europe, said that the Pro9541WT is a direct response to demand for digital textile print technology and will enable customers to grow and capitalise on new business.
“It offers a fast, cost-effective, high-quality alternative to screen and direct to garment printing which is ideal for small-scale production of custom textiles and other goods,” van Gelder said.
“OKI’s Pro9541WT is designed for the silkscreen and industrial textile printing industry. It has been purpose-built to give commercial print businesses the flexibility to expand their print capabilities by integrating the advantages of digital printing into traditional analogue screen printing environments.
“The Pro9541WT offers screen printers the ability to produce toner transfer media applications but also to create traditional screen printing frames digitally, as well as producing digital (hybrid) smart screen transfers onto garment and textiles.”
In terms of how the device differs to technology already available on the market, van Gelder said the Pro9541WT offers three different application types from a single device – digital toner transfer printing, digital screen printing frames and digital smart screen transfer.
“OKI’s Pro9541WT digital toner transfer printing is a low-cost t-shirt equipment solution especially for black/dark garments, delivering ultra-fast printing in terms of pages per minute vs. minutes per print,” he said. “Furthermore, versus DTG, OKI’s Pro9541WT is easy to operate and maintain, and with a minimum volume of just one, highly personalised transfer designs can be printed quickly and cost effectively for use on any substrate.
“For digital screen printing, the combination of OKI’s five-colour digital LED technology with chemical-free Neenah EXOstencil or Shockline Selfscreen Paper technology, greatly simplifies the process of screen printing without impacting quality, reducing the time to make a screen-printing frame and easily enables screens to be reused.
“In addition, the digital smart screen transfer process makes full-colour textile decoration simple and affordable, delivering highly durable personalised designs with a high print resolution and lower set-up costs. Digital smart screen transfer printing makes full-colour textile decoration simple and affordable for screen printers.
van Gelder added: “Switching the process of traditional cold peel printing to a combination including digital textile transfer printing using OKI’s Pro9541WT delivers a higher print resolution, cost savings on personalised short-to mid-runs and cuts down pre-press costs at an affordable investment.”
