We speak to Adriano Gut at swissQprint about the company’s exciting neon inks and find out how they can make your print products really stand out.

Every printer hopes the products they make for customers will be noticeable and notable. Whether its packaging, signage, textiles, or anything else, the impact of your print often directly correlates with how successful your customers value your work.

In the battle for the public’s attention, print machine and supplies manufacturer swissQprint has a particularly effective weapon: neon ink. With the ability to print ultra-bright colours – which are even fluorescent under black light – printers can make their products pop like never before, and offer customers a truly eye-catching option.
We spoke to swissQprint’s key accounts manager Adriano Gut about the potential for this exciting print technology.

Tell us about the impact that neon colours can have when it comes to printed products…

Obviously, neon colours ‘pop’ and are an amazing eye-catcher in retail and event environments, which really help to highlight key messages and promotions. What is more, they are fluorescent under black light, which is even more striking.

What kinds of applications are neon inks particularly effective for and how do they add value in these situations?


Typically, neon prints are used in retail for promotion, but they can also be used to create trendy spaces. That means they are also suitable for music, sport and corporate events or themed spaces – think of exhibitions, museums or galleries – as well as signage and advertisements in nightclubs.

Realistically, any indoor application on all sorts of media is possible. Things like retail shop fit-outs; posters, ceiling hangers and point-of-sale displays; information and guidance systems; trade fair and event concepts, including wristbands; and safety notices or campaign signage can all have their impact enhanced using neon print.

Were there any technical issues that had to be overcome for swissQprint machines to be able to accept UV neon yellow and pink?
The inks underwent the same R&D procedures as any other swissQprint ink, and – in the process – they were thoroughly tested to swissQprint standards before release to ensure stability and reliability.
