From designers and entrepreneurs to artists and technicians, we want to share real stories that inspire, challenge, and move us. Each installment will highlight how the Latin American graphic arts industry is evolving thanks to people who are committed to innovation, quality, and resilience. This is the second story.
In a corner of Mexico City, where creativity meets technology, a venture has emerged that goes beyond printing: Fussion Digital Mx. At the helm is Pablo Hernández, a graphic designer by training and co-founder of the company, who has spent more than two decades navigating the ever-changing world of graphic arts.
“I’ve always been very curious and largely self-taught. I like trying new things and figuring out how to do them better,” he says. That mindset led him to create a studio that doesn’t just print, but combines technology, design, and a healthy dose of creativity to offer customized solutions. “We like to solve problems and come up with ideas. Clients often don’t know exactly what they want, but we help them figure it out.”
Purpose-Driven Design and Custom Solutions
From his early days as a freelance designer to the establishment of his own creative studio, Pablo gradually developed a work philosophy centered on purpose-driven design. “First and foremost, I’m a designer. My training is rooted in solving communication problems,” he explains.
That approach is reflected in every project undertaken by Fussion Digital Mx, where the goal is not only to produce visually appealing content, but also to provide functional and effective solutions for clients.
With a range of large-format digital printing services and a specialization in creative finishes, Fussion Digital Mx is committed to providing a comprehensive service that spans from conceptual consulting to final installation. “We’re a company that gets involved from the very beginning. Sometimes clients come to us with a vague idea, and we suggest materials, processes, or techniques to make it work better,” says Pablo. This close collaboration and flexibility have positioned the studio as a strategic partner for advertising agencies, designers, artists, and even global brands seeking unique graphic solutions.
Constant adaptation, inspiration, and a vision for the future
Pablo’s career also reflects the transformation of the graphic arts industry in Mexico. From the 1990s to the present, he has seen changes in technologies, materials, expectations, and business models. “When I started, everything was offset. Then came the digital revolution, and later, vinyl, latex, UV printing… There’s always something new. You have to stay up to date and, above all, be open to experimenting,” he says.
In this process of constant innovation, FESPA events have played an important role for Pablo and his team. “FESPA has always been a great gathering place to learn about trends, see new equipment and materials, and, above all, hear from others in the industry,” he says. “Sometimes you come back with an idea or even a technical solution to a problem you’ve been facing for a while. It’s a place that truly inspires you to keep innovating.”
Fussion Digital Mx has managed to evolve without losing its artisanal essence. With its own machinery, a dedicated technical team, and a network of strategic partners, Pablo has established a production model that keeps quality at its core. “We’ve never been a high-volume print shop, even though we have the capacity. We focus more on special projects—one-of-a-kind pieces or short runs with high added value,” he says.
The key, according to Pablo, is to stay curious and maintain a genuine passion for graphic design. “When I like something, I dive right in. I get obsessed. And I think that’s been key to us still being here after so many years,” he confesses. That energy is reflected in every project that comes out of the workshop: prints that tell stories, materials that inspire ideas, and finishes that elevate design into a tangible experience.
For Fussion Digital Mx, the future lies in continuing to blend creativity, technology, and design to address real needs with innovative visual solutions. And in continuing to enjoy the process: “We’re always learning. And as long as that continues, this will keep going.”
