Moving online with web-to-print software

It’s been more than two decades since the first flurry of web-to-print solutions hit the market in the 1990’s boom, and these solutions have continued to evolve.

Web-to-print software offers print service providers the opportunity to win more business online. While the benefits of this software are plentiful, when it comes to selecting the right solution for your business, this is when the process can get a little tricky.

It is critical to ensure you have a reliable system in place so as to ensure visitors to your website can navigate around your online shop and place an order easily.

Visitors to FESPA 2017 this year will be able to speak with some of the leading providers of web-to-print software, as well as learn how this technology can be integrated into existing workflows to improve the overall process.

One of the companies that can support visitors interested in boosting their web-to-print offering is Caldera. The company has a range of software solutions, with its WebShop product the main offering for web-to-print.

Caldera Webshop is an e-commerce platform that enables users to tailor their store to their individual set-up. This SaaS product can integrate with Caldera’s RIP software, which the company said creates a “complete sales-to-production solution” that can save time and increases profits. Caldera will feature on Stand C31 in Hall B7 of FESPA 2017.

Elsewhere, CADlink Technology Corporation is also able to offer help in terms of web-to-print solutions.  The company, which will be based on Stand E69 in Hall B6 at FESPA 2017, offers a portfolio of software products and is also able to work with customers to create a bespoke solution for their business.

One of the stand-out names on the floorplan is EFI, which, although well known for its printing technology, also has a range of web-to-print solutions on offer to the industry. Visitors to the show can speak with EFI experts about products such as Digital StoreFront, an e-commerce solution that can be branded for a specific client, company or department with custom colours, logos and products.

Digital StoreFront can also be integrated with an EFI management information software system to provide what the company described as “end-to-end business integration”, and is available in various languages with local currency, company and plant support.

In addition, Canon will use its presence on Stand B55 in Hall A1 to not only show off a collection of printing machines, but also demonstrate how its diverse range of technologies can be driven by web-to-print workflows and integrated into productive customer environments.

Example applications will be produced using wide-format media from Canon’s range, which includes substrates optimised for water-based, solvent and UV processes, Océ CrystalPoint as well as for the new UVgel technology.

Mark Lawn, director, graphic and communications group at Canon Europe said: “Our focus with each successive innovation from Canon is to support print service providers to be more productive, to exceed their customers’ quality expectations, and to give them versatile solutions that will enable them to expand their product and service offering into lucrative new areas.”
