Dress to impress with garment print at FESPA 2017

FESPA 2017 seminar programme will explore the possibilities of digital fabric printing and how it could change fashion design. Rob Fletcher tells you why you shouldn't miss it.

Whether it is the range of work on offer in this sector, or simply the creative and colourful applications it produces; there is something about the garment print sector that makes it stand out above many others.

However, the rising popularity of this market has in turn led to an increase in competition amongst print service providers (PSPs), who are having to do more to differentiate themselves.

As set out in the first half of this two-part feature, FESPA 2017 will play host to a range of companies, well suited to providing technological, consumable and material solutions. However, for those companies looking to make the step up in garment print, FESPA 2017 will also feature a selection of seminar sessions that could include the information your business needs to improve.

One such session from Scott Donovan, principal at BleuPrintCreative, focuses on the direct-to-garment printing sector, picking out some of the latest machines on offer and comparing these to see which one is best suited to handling certain work.

‘Direct To Garment Printing - Should We or Shouldn’t We?’ will look at contrast, vibrancy, texture, touch and durability, as well as offer his own cost analysis, to help delegates make a decision that could shape the future fortunes of their business. The session will take place at 14:00 on May 9 at FESPA 2017.

Visitors in attendance on the opening day of next month’s event will also be able to attend a panel session dedicated to textile print, which, of course, has very strong links with garment printing.

Sonja Angerer, editor at Rrrabbitproductions, and members of the panel will consider key talking points such as the size of the digital textile market, as well as the trends in the fashion industry that are influencing digital textile print.

In addition, those in attendance will be able to gain an insight into how the textile industry as a whole is going to change and how will this affect PSPs in Central Europe. You can catch the session at 15:00 on May 9.

Looking further ahead on the seminar programme for FESPA 2017 at visitors that plan to attend the final day of the show – May 12 – will be able to drop in on a session also headed up by Donovan from BleuPrintCreative.

Much like in his first session, Donovan will be looking at digital textile print, but this time with a focus on the actual workflow and what PSPs need to do to ensure that they have an efficient set-up in place.

Seminar sessions have traditionally proved very popular at FESPA events and visitors are encouraged to arrive early

For visitors with a focus on garment print, the spread of seminars is not limited to these presentations, and attendees are encouraged to see as many sessions as they can in order to pick up advice and guidance on a whole host of issues linked to garment print production.
