The increasing importance of web-to-print

Although having been a stable part of the industry for some time, web-to-print remains a key source of business for many printing companies.

Plenty of noise is being made about the importance of ecommerce in the modern world, be it in the print sector or other industries. When it comes to being successful, it almost seems that unless you have a good online presence, then there is little chance you will pull ahead of the competition.

Web-to-print is regarded as one of the most effective ways for printers to gain work from the internet. These solutions provide customers with an easy route to the services that a printer provides, without the need to leave their own home or office.

FESPA continues to recognise the importance of web-to-print and will once again showcase the benefits of such technology at the main show this year. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the latest products on offer and find out just how this technology can help boost their business.

Operating from the gigantic Stand Z50 in Hall 9, EFI is one company that remains committed to the web-to-print sector. Products on offer from the industry giant include the EFI Online Print Solutions (OPS) that delivers web-to-print, dynamic publishing and crossmedia marketing solutions in a single, integrated platform.

Also available from EFI is Digital StoreFront, a much-praised ecommerce solution that offers print buyer experience designed to help users win new business, acquire new customers and grow their existing business. Visitors the EFI stand may also be interested in EFI PrintSmith Site, an internet add-on module for EFO PrintSmith that enables users to create and manage storefront websites within the PrintSmith interface with no knowledge of HTML.

Another major manufacturer well educated in web-to-print is Xerox, will also be in attendance at FESPA 2015 on Stand W10 in Hall 9. The firm's primary product in this sector is XMPie Storeflow, a complete web-to-print solution with built-in prepress automation.

Xerox says the product can manage the entre workflow from order acquisition through production to fulfilment. The solution is also mobile friendly, with users able to enjoy an intuitive online shopping experience on a desktop or mobile device.

Meanwhile, software company Caldera will also have a presence at FESPA 2015 from Stand T80 in Hall 6. The firm's main web-to-print solution comes in the form of WebShop, a product it says is the only one of its kind developed with wide-format printers in mind.

Those looking to learn more about web-to-print and the various benefits it offers may be interested in attending one of the many seminars due to take place at FESPA 2015.

Neil Falconer of Print Future will present a session called 'Print2web: (intermediate)', which will focus on maximising opportunities in print and web by utilising print ready PDFs to create different multi-channel formats to drive revenue and add value to customers. Falconer's presentation will take place in the Digital Hub at 12pm on May 21.
