EFI announces new gear and software at Connect

EFI has used its Connect user conference in Las Vegas last week to debut several new EFI products.

These include the Vutek HS HS125 Pro and HS100 Pro Fast-4 hybrid flatbed/roll inkjet printers that offer a range of 4-colour grayscale modes - with speeds up to 225 boards per hour - and the Vutek FabriVu 340i soft signage printer, said to provide a lower cost of entry into the market by offering fully integrated inline sublimation without compromising engine speed or quality.

On the software side, EFI’s Enterprise Commercial, Midmarket Print, Publication, Quick Print, Packaging and Corrugated Packaging Productivity Suites will soon be upgraded to version 6.0, which is currently at the end of the testing cycle.

A bigger announcement was MarketDirect, a customer engagement platform that will allow printing companies and their clients to manage loyalty programs, offers, newsletters, surveys and other customer communication programs.

Designed for use by printing companies, agencies, marketing service providers, educational institutions and small to medium corporations, it gives users the ability to develop, distribute and track customer communications for those. The software is available as a standalone application or alongside EFI's leading W2P solutions.

“It’s about allowing a print service provider to become a marketing service provider, which we’ve been talking about for ten years, and enabling their customers to finally get into the world of marketing and not just print stuff,” said Nick Benkovich, senior director portfolio product management at EFI.

EFI was also demonstrating upcoming Fiery products - Fiery Command WorkStation for wide- and superwide-format inkjet, and Fiery Navigator dashboard analytics for wide- and superwide-format inkjet.

Among other introductions at Connect, EFI is the iQuote estimating/quoting package for versioned and variable-data digital print work, and Optitex 3D Design Illustrator, a plug-in tool for the fashion textile space.
