Deadline for FESPA Awards 2018 extended by one week only

The entry deadline for FESPA Awards 2018 has been extended to midnight on 2 February, so there’s still time to get your entries in

FESPA’s annual Awards programme which recognises print excellence and innovation, has extended their entry deadline to Friday 2 February due to the popularity of the Awards this year.

With several entries being accepted daily, the deadline has been extended to give additional time for companies who have had a busy period to submit their projects.

The global competition is open to any print service provider anywhere in the world, culminating at the prize-giving ceremony at FESPA’s Gala Dinner on 16 May 2018 during FESPA Global Print Expo in Berlin, Germany.

This year the global competition consists of 14 categories covering a variety of application themes. These include in-store, fine art print, decals, outdoor and vehicle decoration, special effect print, garment and wearables, interior decoration, plus industrial and functional printing.

Past Winners

Previous winners from the 2016 Awards included:

Rojo, Taller de Serigrafía - Spain

Christian M Walter’s screen printing workshop in Granada, Spain, was the entry that came away with the top prize in the category of Original Serigraphies and Giclées’ for a screen print by Andalusian artist Paco Pomet.

‘Rojo’ combines a range of experimental print techniques that not only make for great visually alluring design, but always consider their relationship to the subject matter. It shows blood poruing out of trees that lumberjacks have sawn in half.

Dazzle Ship, PressOn - UK

In 2015, wide-format specialist PressOn took away two prizes from the ceremony: a gold award in the Out of Home (OOH)/ Vehicle Decal category, and the People’s Choice Award, voted for by industry peers.

To help mark the centenary of the First World War, 1418, NOW asked PressOn to wrap an entire ex Royal Navy warship, HMS President, in dazzle print camouflage vinyl. The HMS President’s design was created by European artist Tobias Rehberger, one of the most respected European artists of our generation. The ship was berthed by Victoria Embankment on the Thames until February 2015.

HMS President is one of three surviving Royal Navy warships built during the war and served as a dazzle ship in the First World War. The inspiration for the design came from the famous glaring colours and jagged lines of camouflage created to confuse enemy U-boat captains. Before radar, the designs served to confuse the enemy and mask the outline, speed and direction of travel of the ship.

Sernova, P&P Promotion - Italy

Italian company P&P Promotion produced the creative bottles on behalf of Branca, an internationally known firm that commissioned them to produce the decoration. For the project, they used molecular change in glass colour, hot direct screen printing in six different colours, including special options metallic gold and pure gold, as well as special technique called Fenestration.

High Level Signs, High Level Signs - Brazil

Printing of Ultra HD panels that are more than 30m long and 5m high to create a backdrop for TV Globo. The three layers were printed at the same time: the night layer, the white layer and the day layer. When light is projected behind the canvas backlit, the night image appears, creating a special effect.

If you believe your work has achieved real resonance and stands out from the crowd, this is your chance for recognition from the industry’s leading print luminaries. Act quickly! You have until February 2 to submit your work for consideration.

We look forward to another truly competitive year and uncovering work that’s innovative and inspirational.
