The inspiration behind Toyota Hilux Double Cab
Their customer required that CGI design and manufacture a graphics set that reflected their specific regional traditions & culture. The inspiration came from an Oriental landscape, themes, and textures of the Middle East. They used patterns that featured various shapes and topologies to bring out traditional elements. The project took 3 – 4 long months to complete with a team of 8 people who were involved.
The materials
The products and materials that were used to complete the project needed to meet many requirements. The product needed to meet a prescribed OEM specification. The range of substrates, inks and varnish that were used ensured this was achieved. The substrate used was premium automotive grade outdoor self-adhesive vinyl. The inks were bespoke CGI Ink and varnish system and the printers used were silk screen printing machines to ensure the complex tone requirements were met.

We spoke with Ravi Ramiah the Creative & Customer Services Manager at CGI Graphics to about the relevance of the FESPA Awards in the industry, Ravi commented: “These awards allow leaders in print to showcase their product and compare to fellow experts. It also enables print leaders to gauge print capabilities globally, so this is an important process.”
CGI expressed how honoured they were to have been nominated for the award as it allows them to gauge their capability in a market along with some very prestigious printing organisations.
We also asked Ravi how they will use this to their advantage. He explained that: “Internally we share the FESPA recognition with our own teams to celebrate their achievement and externally we share with our own customer base, both have a positive impact on the organisation.”
