FESPA Africa 2019 and Sign Africa to showcase innovative features

FESPA Africa 2019 and Sign Africa will take place from the 11th – 13th September and will feature various educational features and conferences. Sponsored by Roland, the exhibition will be co-located with Africa Print, Africa LED and Modern Marketing.

The educational features that will be showcased at FESPA Africa and Sign Africa will include the CorelDRAW Workshop, the Roland Speed Wrap Challenge, new product tours, the Textile Print experience, Screen Printing with Charlie, the T-shirt design competition, the Printing SA conference and dinner and the Modern Marketing Trend Camp.

CorelDRAW Workshop

Workshops for graphics professionals will be held on the 11th and 12th September and will be hosted by industry specialist Mo Jogie. The workshops will demonstrate how software can be a powerful tool to help enable creativity. Jogie will show visitors how to save time and create effects that will take designs to the next level. Book online here.

The Roland Speed Wrap Challenge 

The Speed Wrap is a national, live vehicle wrapping competition. The event is brought to you by platinum sponsor Roland, vinyl sponsors Grafiwrap (distributed by Maizey Plastics) and exhibition sponsors FESPA Africa and Sign Africa. The Speed Wrap challenge will take place on all three days of the exhibition in Hall 3 and is free to enter. The first round will be at 10am and the final round will take place on Friday 13th September. The winner of the competition will compete at the World Wrap Masters Finals 2020 at the Global Print Expo 2020 in Madrid.

New product tours 

New product tours will be available and will run throughout all three days of the exhibition in all exhibition halls.

Textile print experience

Visitors will be able to experience free demonstrations by local experts on T-shirts and textile items with speciality printing techniques, like garment decoration, direct to transfer and screen printing. Visitors will be able to ask local experts questions regarding techniques and processes. Entry will be free, and demonstrations will take place in Hall 2.

Screen printing with Charlie 

Charlie Taublieb will lead a hands-on workshop where printers will be able to learn different screen-printing techniques. The workshop is sponsored by Rexx. Taublieb who has been in in the screen-printing industry since 1976, and heads up Taublieb Consulting in Greenwood Village, Colorado, a company that specialises in technical screen-printing consulting for textile printers. Entry will be free, and the workshop will take place in Hall 2.

T-shirt design competition 

Designers have been invited to post their ‘Explosion of Possibilities’ themed T-shirt design on the Sign Africa FESPA Africa and Modern Marketing Facebook pages. Entrants who receive the most likes will have their designs printed and showcased at FESPA Africa, Sign Africa and Modern Marketing exhibitions. The top 15 designs will be printed and displayed at registration for the public to vote. The top 3 designs will win cash prizes. Entry is free.

Printing SA Conference and Dinner

President Cyril Ramaphosa (TBC) will be appearing at the Printing SA conference and dinner, alongside the Ministers of Communication, Department of Trade and Industry, Dept of Economic Development, MEC for Education in Gauteng and Department of Arts and Culture on matters relating to the revitalisation and sustainability of the industry.

Additional industry speakers will address the current state of the industry as well as the future of the industry into the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The conference will take place on the 11th and 12th September, with the annual dinner occurring on the 12th September.

Modern Marketing Trend Camp 

The first Modern Marketing Expo aims to inspire advertising and marketing professionals with the latest industry trends and products. A 2-day Modern Marketing Trend Camp will take place on the 11th and 12th September and will feature industry experts. Entry will be free, and the camp will take place in Hall 1.
