A Mechanical Engineer by background, David has, for more than 2 decades, held senior positions in International Organisations specialising in Interior Fit Out and Sign Implementation.

Fausto Martin, R&D Engineer, BrolloSiet
Fausto graduated as an electrical engineer at Padova Univeristy, Economical Management branch. Since graduating, Fausto has pursued a career in electrical engineering applied to signs, and is a key member of many national and European electrical and sign bodies: Member of National Institute of Engineers (A 1729) in the Treviso Province since 1994; Member of the Technical Committee of AIFIL (Italian Association of Sign Makers) and co-Chairman of the Technical Committee of ESF since 2007; Member of Sub-Committee 34 C and 34 D of the 'Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano', Milan; Italian delegate to the CENELEC in Brussels (Belgium); and Member of Institute of Italian Journalists as a Publicist. Fausto is currently an R&D engineer at BrolloSiet, a leading manufacturer of power supplies for cold cathode lamps. |
Friedel Pas, Regional Officer, International Dark Sky Association
Friedel has been an active Dark Sky advocate since 1990. In 1993 he joined the Werkgroep Lichthinder, a workgroup in the Flemish astronomical association about light pollution. There he founded together with people from the federation of environmental association in Flanders one of the biggest light pollution awareness campaigns in Europe, where after 15 years, he is still one of the key drivers. Latest figures show more than 62% of the municipalities in Flanders participated by switching off a part of their outdoor lighting and about 25,000 visitors over the 180 local events.

 Jan Van der Veken
As regular guest lecturer at the Brussels HUB Jan Van der Veken knows how to keep an audience focused when talking marketing and corporate communication. After a master's degree in commercial and financial economics and a master in marketing management Jan had over 30 years of experience in the advertising business at agency side at Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO, Publicis and Ackerman McQueen where he was European Vice-President until he set up his own agency Marcom Projects.
His particular strength lies in managing global communication projects from strategy to implementation which enabled him to work for important accounts such as Apple, P&G, Vittel, Renault, Six Flags, various airlines and major banks as well as financial institutions. He participated in marketing the launch of the Euro and the introduction of Apple in Europe. He created, launched and managed the INDI brand, a third provider of digital TV in Flanders which was brought to an incredible height within only three years time and then sold to Telenet with an incremental added value of about 80%.
From the start of Instima (Marketing Foundation Teaching branch) Jan was invited for lectures on communication. He was involved with training courses related to communication & marketing topics. He assists and coordinates post graduate training programmes in marketing and communications.

Luc Steegmans, Vice President, European Sign Federation
Born the son of a signmaker, Luc was involved in signs and technology throughout his youth - learning about virtually every aspect of signmaking. After graduating as an engineer he joined the family business, in 1985 Luc became managing director.
He represented the Belgian Sign Federation at the Cenelec Task Force to prepare EN50107, the neon installation standard, and triggered new evolutions in the protection devices to enhance their effectiveness and reliability. As member of Cebec, the Belgian National Electrotechnical Committee, he helped to defend the interests of the European sign industry, as he did in IEC meetings. He was a pioneer in automatic neon processing, thereby anticipating on a wave of retiring glassbenders years later.
Luc works as a consultant in six continents, giving presentations on technology and international sign business. With his multilingual background and staff his company exports and provides local service in more than 70 countries around the globe, including Australia, Japan, China, South Africa, Brazil and the USA.
He is Vice President of BSO, the Belgian Sign Organization, and 1st Vice President of ESF. |

Rich Gottwald, Executive Vice President, International Sign Association.
Rich Gottwald is executive vice president for the International Sign Association. In this capacity, he is responsible for providing oversight and leadership on the regulatory and technical challenges and opportunities facing the on-premise sign industry. Rich also has responsibility for ISA’s tradeshow operations, including the International Sign Expo, as well as growing ISA’s education and industry training efforts.
Prior to joining ISA in 2007, Rich held senior management positions in several trade associations including executive vice president for the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, president of the Plastics Pipe Institute, and executive director of the Society of the Plastics Industry.
Rich hold a BS in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and is a Certified Association Executive.

Dr Spiros Kitsinelis, Light Source Expert
Dr Spiros Kitsinelis is a researcher focusing on the development of novel and energy efficient light sources. He gained his master's and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield in England, for his research and development of pulse operated low pressure plasma light sources in the High Temperature Science Laboratories. Spiros continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at Ehime University in Japan in the department of electrical and electronic engineering. He held the position of Project Leader at the Central Development Lighting of Philips Lighting in the Netherlands, and he continued his research and development of the next generation of plasma light sources for the Physics department of the National Technical University of Athens. After a break form research where he served as a chemical engineer for the armed forces he returned to civilian life and his research activities. Amongst other things he also acted as the National Contact Point for Energy at the National Documentation Centre of the National Research Foundation of Greece. He is the author of a number of scientific publications, has attended many international conferences and is the co-creator of a number of patents in the field of light sources as well as the editor of the electronic periodical Science and Technology of Light Sources - SATeLightS. |
Wouter Moons, co-founder, Lumoza
After graduating as an electromechanical engineer, Wouter joined the research team of IMEC/U-Hasselt to study production techniques for third generation solar cells (nano based metal oxides and conjugated polymers). This resulted in interesting techniques to produce even more then just photovoltaics. After his PhD, he founded Lumoza as a spin-off company of Hasselt University, IMEC and a joint venture with Artist Screen. Lumoza is focussed on printed electronics (Electroluminescent, RFID, Sensors...) for packaging and advertising applications. |
