The rush towards digital-textile signage shows no sign of slowing down, and any wide-format PSP keen to join this bandwagon needs to address several questions. Should it be UV pigment or dye-sub? And if dye-sub, should it be via transfer or direct? What do I need to know about fabric preparation and finishing? What do they really mean when they say that fabric, or a particular class of inks, is more sustainable?

I see broken promises upon the horizon.

It's that time of year again. Everyone is talking about their New Year resolutions. Everyone is telling me that they will go to the gym more. Or lose weight. Or stop smoking.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Atelier fur Siebdruck in Switzerland, the home of printer extraordinaire, Lorenz Boegli. I have known Lorenz for about 13 years and seen much of his work through my involvement with the FESPA awards. Lorenz is a regular entrant and a regular winner of gold awards.
Experiential marketing. It was big in 2011 and it's set to get even bigger in 2012 as brands eschew more traditional advertising forms in an attempt to get a greater bang for their buck.

Reinventing Screenprinting

Caspar Williamson, a London-based illustrator and screen-printer who runs the print and design firm Flying Machines, published the book Reinventing Screenprinting last month, which celebrates the work of some of the world's most innovative and creative screenprinters. We caught up with him to find out his thoughts on the printing techniques recent revival and what the future has in store for screenprint lovers.
