Hewlett Packard have announced that leading Spanish label manufacturer, GERMARK, has used its HP Indigo press ws4050 to win trophies at the 2007 TLMI (Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute) Awards and a commendation at the HP Label Competition, held last year.
GERMARK was highly commended for the fine-art detail on its entry in the Cosmetic Label category at the first annual HP Label Competition, held at Labelexpo Europe in September 2007. The awards recognise customers for their commitment to excellence and innovation in digital label printing.
GERMARK also was honoured for its HP Indigo digitally printed labels at the TLMI Awards, which acknowledge the industry’s finest label producers worldwide. This year GERMARK was honoured with first prize in the Wine and Spirits and the Health and Beauty categories, as well as first and second prize in the Food and Beverage category.
One of GERMARK’s award-winning jobs was for Isotonica, a high-energy beverage sold predominately in bars and nightclubs. Using its HP Indigo press ws4050, the company produced short-run, customised labels with complex, highly decorative designs. The beverage labels were customised to each bar or nightclub location and printed on a clear substrate to allow the silver can to be visible. “These awards are very important to us because they confirm that the work we produce is of the highest standard,” said Iban Cid, managing director, GERMARK. “The TLMI Awards and HP Label Competition motivate us to perform even better, and fortunately our HP Indigo press enables us to take on more challenges all the time.”
More than 500 HP Indigo presses for the label market are installed worldwide. The digital presses enable label printers to provide a wider range of services to their customers, including short-run, print-on-demand and variable data work unsuitable and expensive to produce conventionally.
“The versatility and quality of HP Indigo presses is widely accepted in the market, and as a result we are seeing more of our customers winning industry awards,” said Enric Martinez-Abarca, EMEA industrial business manager, Indigo Digital Press, HP. “Winning awards in a market where flexo was previously unchallenged is a great acknowledgement of the acceptance of HP Indigo digital technology for label applications.”
The on-demand printing capabilities of the HP Indigo press ws4050 and end-to-end solutions offered by HP and its partners has helped maintain GERMARK’s leading position in a marketplace, where customers want jobs as quickly as possible, without compromising on quality.
To further utilise the time and cost savings the HP Indigo press ws4050 affords through cost-effective short-run printing, GERMARK has launched an express template-driven web-to-print service guaranteeing a 48-hour turnaround on any label job.
